DENTAL CHANGES IN YOUR MOUTH

As a general rule, when it comes to dental health, you want things to remain the same if you have a healthy mouth. Maintaining that health is important. When changes begin to occur in your mouth, it could be a sign of gum disease. Typically, when your normal appearance, feel, smell and brushing experience change, there is a problem. Here are some changes to watch for that could signal that you have gum disease.

Changing Color

If you’re noticing your gums change to red, this is a sign that you might have gum disease. Healthy gums should be firm and pale pink. Bacteria cause inflamed gums, which is known as gingivitis, the early, mild stage of gum disease.

Changing Shape

If your gums begin to become swollen and puffy, this could be an early sign of gum disease. With your puffiness, you may also have exceptionally swollen and painful gums.

Changing Results

Typically, after brushing you spit in the sink and see signs of toothpaste and clear spit. If you’re seeing blood in the sink when you spit after brushing, this is an early signal that you may have gum disease.

Changing Odors

Nobody likes bad breath. Everyone wants to smell minty fresh! Bad breath, or having an exceedingly bad taste in your mouth can be an early sign of gum disease. Plaque buildup on the tongue is usually the culprit to bad breath.
