What are the keys to making a good first impression?
Most people would say good eye contact, a strong handshake, and a friendly smile.
But what if your smile isn’t giving the best impression anymore? If your teeth are chipped, discolored, worn down, or have an unusual shape, people may be left with a different impression of you than you wanted to present, and that impression may not be fair to you.
Our teeth say a lot about us. Fortunately, there’s a way to change what your teeth might be saying about you.
Veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment that can completely transform the appearance of your smile. In fact, they are often the secret behind the flawless smiles that appear on the red carpet or in glossy magazines.
Today, veneers aren’t just an option for the rich and famous. They’ve become much more affordable and available to everyone, and we are thrilled to be able to make over smiles and see the new light in our patients’ eyes.
WHAT ARE VENEERS?
Veneers are essentially thin covers made from dental-grade porcelain that are carefully shaped and shaded and then bonded to the front of your teeth. They can conceal an incredible number of common cosmetic imperfections to give you the appearance of a flawless smile. We can create just one veneer to cover a single problematic tooth or completely recreate your entire smile.
At Seacrest Dental, we have an in-house lab technician, which means that we are able to work closely to create superb aesthetics with veneers. Thanks to this close collaboration, your veneers will be shaded perfectly to not only conceal imperfections but also look natural with your complexion and facial structure.
HOW ARE VENEERS PLACED?
We’ll begin by prepping your teeth for the veneers, and then we’ll take impressions and imaging that our technician will use to craft them. We’ll place temporary veneers on your teeth to protect them while your permanent veneers are being made. When your veneers are complete, we’ll call you back to our office and bond the veneers to your teeth.
Another option we offer is same-day veneers, which are done using the same tooth-colored material that we use for filling cavities! To place these, we etch your teeth slightly (which allows the material to create a firm bond with your teeth), then apply the material and carefully shape it. Once we reach the desired shape, we cure the material, do any final reshaping, and then polish it to perfection.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY VENEERS?
You care for your veneers the same way you would for your own teeth – a good home hygiene routine and regular check-ups and cleanings at either our Seagrove or Miramar Beach dental offices. We’ll check the condition of your veneers at each appointment and make sure that they are in great shape.
Although veneers are stain resistant, they can still become stained over time and don’t respond to whitening treatments, so it’s wise to avoid foods and drinks known to stain or, if you do choose to enjoy them, rinse and brush afterward. This will extend the life of your veneers. Additionally, avoid chewing on things that aren’t food (like ice or your fingernails) to avoid accidentally chipping a veneer or dislodging it altogether.
